Powerful Pecans:
I love pecans they are
truly a childhood favorite. I remember when I was younger I would go outside to
my grandmas yard with a huge plastic sack and pick all the good pecans! Ahh… the
joys of growing up in the country! I
have always had a pretty good immune system. It was very rare that I would get
sick as a child and I think my obsessive love for pecans might be the reason.
Here are a few health tips according to the National Pecan Shellers
Association:
- high in healthy unsaturated fat and just a handful a day can lower
“bad” cholesterol.
- they contain more than 19 vitamins and minerals including vitamins
A, B, and E, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and
zinc.
- just one ounce of pecans provides 10 percent of the Daily
Recommended intake of fiber.
- pecans are also rich in age defying antioxidants.
- are the most antioxidant-rich tree nut and rank among the top 15 foods with the highest levels of antioxidants.
The only downside to this lovely snack is that they can be a bit expensive ..however for the benefits they are well worth the price. Also not worry if you cant find them right away the are always in the baking sections... if though that was all they are good for ...smh.
